

Headquartered in New York, Loral Space & Communications (NASDAQ: LORL) is a satellite communications company with activities in two primary areas: satellite services and satellite manufacturing.
Through its Loral Skynet subsidiary, Loral owns and operates a fleet of telecommunications satellites operating in geosynchronous orbit 23,000 miles above the equator. Together with terrestrial fiber and other resources, Skynet provides services and platforms for use by television and cable networks to broadcast video programming, and by communication service providers, resellers, corporate and government customers for broadband data transmission, Internet services and other value-added communications services. Skynet's satellite network provides reliable, high-bandwidth services around the globe, serving as the backbone for many forms of telecommunications. Loral Skynet is based in Bedminster, NJ.

Loral's manufacturing business, Space Systems/ Loral (SS/L), is one of the world's largest designers and manufacturers of satellites and satellite systems for commercial and government users. Since the advent of the space age more than 45 years ago, SS/L has developed state-of-the-art spacecraft for applications that include satellite services, television broadcasting, direct-to-home (DTH) television services, broadband communications, military communications, wireless telephony, digital satellite radio, weather monitoring and air traffic management. SS/L is located in Palo Alto, Calif.
Loral also owns 56 percent of XTAR, a joint venture between Loral and HISDESAT, a consortium comprised of leading Spanish telecommunications companies, including Hispasat, S.A., and agencies of the Spanish government. Through its XTAR-EUR satellite, XTAR provides X-band services to government users in the United States, Spain and other allied countries, including the US Department of State, the Spanish Ministry of Defence and Danish armed forces. XTAR's headquarters are in Rockville, Md.
