Headquartered in New York, Loral Space & Communications (NASDAQ: LORL) is a satellite communications company with activities in satellite services.

Loral owns 64% of Telesat, which has a global state-of-the-art fleet of satellites. Telesat provides:
  • Video Broadcasting to customers in North America, Latin America, Asia, and the EMEA region

  • IP Broadband for corporate, telecom and government customers operating on land and in rapidly developing mobile communications markets – maritime and aeronautical.
Telesat is a leader in consumer broadband delivered by Ka-band capacity on two of its Anik satellites. Telesat also has a world-class satellite consulting practice which provides guidance to satellite companies, insurers and other industry participants on a global basis along with managing the operations of additional satellites for third parties.

Loral also owns 56 percent of XTAR, a joint venture between Loral and HISDESAT, a consortium comprised of leading Spanish telecommunications companies, including Hispasat, S.A., and agencies of the Spanish government. Through its XTAR-EUR satellite, XTAR provides X-band services to government users in the United States, Spain and other allied countries, including the US Department of State, the Spanish Ministry of Defence and Danish armed forces. XTAR's headquarters are in Herndon, VA.
