On November 21, 2005, Loral Space & Communications Inc. officially concluded its reorganization and successfully emerged from chapter 11.
Throughout the chapter 11 process, Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) remained the premier manufacturer of commercial satellites. The company has since increased its market share and won more than 40% of the medium and high power commercial satellite contracts. Loral also focused on growing and strengthening its fixed satellite services (FSS) business by investing in Telesat and contributing the Loral Skynet satellite fleet. Telesat is now the world's 4th largest FSS operator, and its satellites are well-positioned to serve areas with high growth potential such as Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the trans-Atlantic market.
